Environmental pollution monitoring

In its field of development and research superelectric has developed specific skills in the environmental branch. In particular superelectric has developed the following services and systems to be used in preventing environmental risk:

  • Design and development of multispectral and hiperspectral airborne monitoring and observation system;
  • Realization of landcover monitoring activities by means of multispectral and hiperspectral tecniques ;
  • SODAR(1) systems development;
  • LIDAR(2) systems development;
  • Scientific Instrumentation Services & Maintenance;

NOTES:
(1) SODAR (SOnic Detection And Ranging), also written as sodar, is a meteorological instrument used as a wind profiler to measure the scattering of sound waves by atmospheric turbulence. SODAR systems are used to measure wind speed at various heights above the ground, and the thermodynamic structure of the lower layer of the atmosphere. Sodar systems are like radar (radio detection and ranging) and lidar(light radar) systems except tha sound waves rather than radio or light waves are used for detection. Other names used for sodar systems include sounder, echosounder and acoustic radar.(source: wikipedia)

(2) LIDAR (“Light Detection And Ranging” or “Laser Imaging Detection and Ranging”) is a remote sensing technology that measures distance by illuminating a target with a laser and analyzing the reflected light. Although thought by some to be an acronym of Light Detection And Ranging. The term lidar was actually created as a portmanteau of “light” and “radar”. Lidar is popularly used as a technology to make high-resolution maps, with applications in geomatics, archaeology, geography, geology, geomorphology, seismology, forestry, remote sensing, atmospheric physics, airborne laser swath mapping (ALSM), laser altimetry, and contour mapping.
